Once I have registered, how soon can I meet my host family?
What if I am not happy with my Homestay family?
At Australian Family Homestay we do our best to make sure your stay is a wonderful experience for both you and your Australian family. However, if you are not satisfied with your Homestay, you may request a transfer.
If, in the opinion of Australian Family Homestays, the Homestay does not meet the reasonable requirements, the transfer will be made without any penalty for lack of notice.

Are the fees I pay to the Host Family refundable?
Once you have been placed in a Homestay the accommodation placement fee is not refundable. The accommodation placement fee is for one placement with a Homestay family unless Australian Family Homestays finds that the Homestay does not meet the reasonable requirements. See Terms & Conditions.

What is the standard fee for this service?
Payment for each seven-day (7) period is at the rate of:
- Wollongong:
Placement Fee: $176.00
Weekly Rate (Single): $217.00 (or $31.00 per day)
Weekly Rate (Twin Share): $187.00 (or $27.00 per day)
- Sydney:
Placement Fee: $198.00
Weekly Rate (Single): $237.00 (or $34.00 per day)

What happens if I have a serious disagreement with my host family?
If any misunderstandings or disputes should arise between yourself and the Homestay family please contact Australian Family Homestays immediately. We will do our best to make sure any reasonable concerns are heard and acted upon.
What happens if I no longer want to stay with the family?
You must stay in your Homestay a minimum of 4 weeks from the date of arrival. After four weeks, if you wish to leave your Homestay, you must give either Australian Family Homestays or your Homestay family at least 7 days notice. Where less than the required notice of departure is given, you will have to pay for the days.

FAQ – for Homestay Families
Once we are registered, how long before a member of Australian Family Homestays comes to speak with us?
We live out of town, but there is a bus stop/train station close by. Will we be eligible to register as a Host Family?
Yes, you are free to register. As you can understand, there are certain criteria you will need to meet and one of these will focus on where your home is situated AFH will let you know whether you meet that criteria.
